She liked dancing to Jane’s and Bowie was my thing
Fireflies dancing in the night with a passion burning bright as stars
How long can it last? Can it survive the new sun?
What becomes when the new day washes away?
When reality sets in and all the romance gone,
Will I still be a knight shining past this night?
Will I be the man of all dreams or just a fleeting thing?
Can I still capture her imagination?
Newness is a lure
But the mundane is where character is born
Whiskey and wine enhance this moment and now seems like forever
Youthful passions ruminate with the promise of ever after
But can I be loved when I’m no one else but me?
When the old me dies and a new me is born
Will you see me for who I am or the way you wish I was?
I asked her if she’ll love me tomorrow when I grow into a better man
And she just laughed and said maybe, but maybe’s not good enough!

Love soared like birds
While kisses fell like raindrops on puckered lips
The moonlight held a glow in those eyes
The night sky’s deception was misleading
Memories addictive like drugs

I sent postcards from my afterlife
When I was born again as the new me
